Tophhie Social
A self-hosted corner of the fediverse — same AT Protocol as Bluesky, run entirely by us.
Tophhie Social is a Personal Data Server for the AT Protocol, the network Bluesky runs on. It holds your account and your data and connects you to everyone else on the network. Signing up is not joining a smaller, separate service. It is an ordinary account on the same network, hosted in the UK by us.
The reason to care about who hosts you is what happens when you want to leave. Your identity is a DID rather than a hostname, so moving to another server, including back to Bluesky, takes your posts and your followers with you. Deactivating starts a window of roughly fourteen days, after which the repository is deleted automatically. Both of those are properties of the protocol rather than favours we grant, which is most of the point of running on it.
There are a couple of things here you will not find on a stock PDS. Sign in at profile.tophhie.social with your handle to manage your profile from the browser. And every account gets an accessibility score: a 0 to 100 measure of how consistently the images in your posts carry alt text, weighted 80% by how many images have it and 20% by how many posts have it on every image. It refreshes daily and you can read it straight off the server:

We are fairly open about the operational side too. The documentation is public and accepts pull requests, and when something has broken we have published the post-incident report rather than quietly fixing it. That includes the outages, the bot sign-up wave, and the day one typo in a sender address took out account creation entirely.
What it does.
The same network, not a copy
A handle here works in Bluesky and in any other AT Protocol app. You are on the same network, hosted by us instead of by Bluesky.
A handle that is yours
Pick something.tophhie.social, or point a domain you already own at your account. Sign-ups are open and need no invite code.
Identity you can take with you
Your account is a DID, not a hostname. Move to another server later, including back to Bluesky, and your posts and followers come along.
Deletion that means deletion
Deactivate and the repository is removed after about 14 days by a scheduled job that runs off the server holding the data, not on it.
